My name is Hamidat Bello, and I am a computer science specialization student at the University of Alberta. I started my academic journey in neuroscience, fascinated by the intricate workings of the human brain, only to have my curiosity lead me to the incredible realm of technology and artificial intelligence. This inspired me to transfer majors into computer science (a very long story short). 💡

Despite being relatively new to the tech scene, I’ve held roles such as a Software Engineering and Product Management Intern (Explore Intern) at Microsoft and a Software Engineering Fellow at Uber, in addition to a Undergraduate Researcher Intern position at the UAlberta Rehabilitation Robotics Laboratory focusing on the intersection of technology and rehabilitation. These experiences have given me a first-hand understanding of technology's transformative power and the critical need for its accessibility. 🤝🚀

During my journey, I’ve noticed a recurring theme - numerous opportunities for women in tech were going unutilized. Not because the talent or interest wasn't there, but because of a lack of awareness and appropriate support. I became more acutely aware of the underrepresentation of women in the tech space.

This realization motivated me to create AthenaCodes. Named after Athena, a Greek symbol of wisdom, this platform aims to be a beacon of knowledge, and inspiration. It's designed to raise awareness about opportunities in Canadian tech and provide the necessary resources and support to make these opportunities attainable. 🌸👩‍💻📚
